The Marys River Watershed Council is a non-profit, grassroots community organization dedicated to facilitating a healthy and sustainable watershed ecosystem, economy and community. Our current focus is to implement on-the-ground projects, monitor improvements, and develop educational activities that advance the health of the Marys River Watershed. The council meets on the first Wednesday of most months at 7PM at Philomath City Hall. For meeting announcements and more information, please visit our website at http://www.mrwc.net .
The Marys River Watershed Council will continue to work with Philomath students on restoration activities and learning opportunities in the local Newton Creek sub-watershed. Together with US Fish and Wildlife Service, Oregon Trout, Oregon State University, Philomath School District, Benton Soil and Water Conservation District, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, Pacific Wildlife Research Inc., and the Marys Peak Natural Resources Interpretive Center, the Council is working to improve habitat in the creek and wetlands for native plants, fish, and wildlife. Simultaneously, they are providing a significant learning experience for students and facilitating community partnerships.
