This biennium the Council was most proud of their Carcass Seeding, or as others say, "Fish Flop" or "Salmon Slinging." At this event, 25 volunteers got together on a cold, rainy day and went up to the snowy mountains to place or "sling" 300-500 salmon carcasses along selected streams. Isn't this what everyone does after the holidays to get out of the house? Volunteers met, split into groups and headed off to different stream areas. There have been monitoring and data studies to determine what role decaying carcasses play in the health of salmon spawning streams. As they decompose, the fish help the local ecosystem with the nutrients left in their bodies. At the end of the day, volunteers met again for stories and snacks. The local television station even showed up for some footage!
